Father detained for child abduction

A MAN wanted in France for child abduction is under arrest after police detained him at Almeria port when he disembarked from a ferry coming from Algeria.

Officers identified the fugitive during a routine filter of passengers, establishing there was a European arrest warrant for 40-year old F.B. in relation to an outstanding two-year prison sentence.

Police said the French authorities had been looking for the man, who is originally from Algeria, since June 2013, when he went to Morocco with his two young children without the mother’s consent.

His ex-wife, who lives in France, had been awarded custody of the youngsters in the divorce settlement.

The children remain in Morocco.
