The vice president of Malaga and Minister for Tourism and Juan Marin has announced a new plan to increase the quantity and quality of inspections within the tourism industry.
Marin’s plan involves controlling temporary work contracts and giving big businesses incentives to offer long term contracts instead thereby making sure that the workforce in the sector is secure.
Another key objective for Marin and his team will be to weed out sexism in the industry as right now the number of female cleaners is vastly more than the number of men working in this role. A new campaign is set to be launched to change the way employees are hired.
Education in the tourism sector is popular in universities as evidenced by the numerous Masters courses in tourism, but Marin aims to further augment it by reopening the La Consola and La Fonda catering colleges to promote the continued teaching of best practices in the industry.
Those tourism companies that comply with the new inspection and education procedures will be given incentives and priority for certain grants.
