If you enjoy festivities, tradition, vibrant dance and music you have until the Sunday the 25th of August to visit one of the oldest ferias in Andalusia, the Málaga Feria. Its origins date back to the 15th century to commemorate the Catholic Monarchs’ entrance into Malaga in August 1487. A famed cosmopolitan festival throughout Andalusia. A celebration open to all who want to experience the Malaga summer festival. You do not need an invitation or formal attire, just the desire to experience a truly fun-filled week. By day, the city centre is a hotbed of people, due largely to the date. Mid summer, when hundreds of people from all corners of the world have travelled to spend their holidays on the Costa del Sol. The streets of Historic centre are decorated with lanterns and floral ornaments, booths are mounted, shows for children and adults are held, dances, parades with orchestras and endless events. Flamenco and copla are present throughout the fair in true reflection that Malaga and its province is a geographical area of cante. In addition to traditional music, you will find music of all styles are played. It is best to note, that due to the feria’s popularity with an on-going influx of visitors and fairgoers, getting there by car can be complicated. The best option is public transport or taxi. In Málaga there are buses that go to the fair at all hours from any part of the city (Line F operates 24 hours a day) The Málaga Fair opens every year with an impressive fireworks display that bathes the Málaga sky in colour. The reflection of the cascading light shimmering on the darkened sea is the best picture that you can take to begin the great days of the capital Málaga’s summer fair.
