Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s secret Ibiza holiday

IBIZA has had a royal visit, with the Duke and Duchess of Sussex – plus baby Archie – enjoying a secret break away from the lenses of the paparazzi.

Harry and Meghan are reported by the Spanish press to have arrived on August 6 and flown back to the UK by private jet five days later

The family stayed in a private villa away from the spotlight, accompanied by a large contingent of bodyguards.

It was one of the first private trips of the couple with their son, born May 6, outside the United Kingdom. It is not the first time Meghan has been to the island – the actress visited Ibiza in August 2016 when she was on holiday with three friends.

Her husband’s visits to the Balearic Islands always took place in a different context. Prince Harry and his brother William travelled with Charles and Diana to Palma to spend a few days in the palace of Marivent along with the then King and Queen of Spain Juan Carlos and Sofia in 1986.

The family repeated the visit in later years, until Charles and Diana’s last stay as a couple in August 1990. Later that year Princess Di repeated her visit, this time alone, and stayed in a hotel in Deiá in the Tramontana mountain range.

Harry and Meghan now plan to spend a few days in Balmoral Castle. The last time they were seen in public was last month during the premiere of The Lion King in London. The getaway to Ibiza has served to help them celebrate Meghan’s 38th birthday in privacy.
