FIREFIGHTERS were alerted to a boat that had gone up in flames on the coast of Aguilas at Las Delicias beach last weekend.
The emergency services along with the Red Cross were dispatched immediately to the mouth of the Rambla de las Culebras where the boat was anchored. The burning boat was about 300m from the shore so the maritime rescue ships ‘Titania’ and ‘Genil’ were also sent to help out.
It took the combined forces about half an hour to put the fire out and according to sources, the damage wasn’t too serious as a result of the speedy response time. This was the second case burning vessel firefighters tackled in Aguilas last week.
