WATCH: Guardia Civil rescue British tourist off Costa Blanca beach with surfer’s help

GUARDIA CIVIL officers have saved a British woman from drowning off a Torrevieja beach yesterday (Wednesday) with the help of a surfer.

Guardia Civil sources said the 67-year-old woman, who was on holiday in the Costa Blanca resort town, was spotted struggling in the water around 150 metres from the shore.

She was stuck in choppy seas at around 9.50am which led one officer to swim to her aid. He was helped by a nearby surfer who lent him his board to bring the woman to shore.


Medical personnel were able to treat the woman at the scene.

It comes after a 70-year-old Spanish man was transferred to Torrevieja’s University Hospital after falling unconscious and almost drowning at the town’s Palagre beach.
