DOES this seem familiar? Talking to yourself, saying, I wish it was quiet around me at this very moment. Silence. No sound at all. For a moment, por favor. You just want to hear nothing or maybe just the waves of the sea, some birds singing softly or the wind blowing. Or not even that.
There is so much noise in our life these days and it feels like it is increasing all the time. And not only during the day, even at night, while we are supposed to sleep. When we need to have complete silence. The time that our mind should be able to rest, that our battery could reload.
But no, there is always interference. So how can we stop this or what can we do about it? Besides running around with earplugs all the time. A few months ago, there was a woman who went searching for the most silent place on earth. It was on social media. She looked around not too far from her hometown. And she thought at first that it would be an easy task. That she would soon find that unique spot where she could enjoy peace of mind.
Silence. Of course, she found quiet places. But never quiet enough. There was always somewhere some kind of sound to hear. A car far away or a plane or animals. She started to think that a real silent place on earth did not exist any more. There are no completely silent spots on this planet any more was her reaction, her belief. And maybe she is right.
So what about you now? Even with all the noise around you, where do you find peace of mind, which is the most silent place for you? Do you make enough time for yourself, your family, in quiet surroundings? If so that would be wonderful because our brain needs the time and place to reset, to calm down, to rest. If not and you feel you need it, then take some time now and think where you could find the most silent place for you. Which is, of course, different for all of us.
Look at your calendar and make an appointment with yourself to go to that place or to go search for it. If you find it, enjoy it. Visit your special spot more and more. And if you want to share it please do so. Would be great. Like they say on social media – sharing is caring.
So now you have found your place and been visiting it for some time. Very soon afterwards you will see the difference in your own behaviour. You will be much calmer. You will be able to think clearer. Even find answers to questions you struggled with for some time. Silence will also give your body and mind a very healthy power up. Is this not worth it? Enjoy the silence in your life…
