Bilbao airport still set for strike action later this month

AIRPORT staff in Bilbao are still set to strike later this month despite efforts to avert the walkout.

The Aena website said industrial action was set to take place on Sunday July 21, Wednesday 24, Thursday 25, Sunday 28 and Wednesday 31.

Aena added passengers should check before arriving at the airport to see if their flights are affected.

More strikes are planned throughout August and September but dates have not been confirmed.

The ground crew are walking out over under-staffing due to the increased workload put upon the staff during the past two years.

The first strike took place on Monday July 1 and caused the cancellation of 20 flights. A meeting was held on July 10 to try to reach an agreement but none was struck.
