Something for everyone this summer in Mojacar Pueblo

THERE is something for everyone this summer in Mojacar Pueblo.
The local council has put together a packed programme of events designed to appeal to all ages for the peak holiday season.
This Friday July 12 there will be an oriental themed parade starting at 9.30pm from the Plaza del Fronton, which will wind its way through the narrow streets of the old village. The following evening the plaza will be the venue for street theatre, with a performance of the play ‘Estrella Fugaz’, again at 9.30pm.
Over at the Plaza Nueva on the same night there will be with pop and rock & roll with the band Perros Beta from 10.30pm onwards. The following Wednesday July 17 it will be over to The Fat Lizard Band on the same stage to get everyone up on their feet.
The popular Anabel Veloso returns to Mojacar this year with her flamenco spectacular in the Plaza Nueva on Friday July 19 at 10pm. The following Friday there will be a performance by students from Conchi Lopez’s Garrucha Dance School at 10pm at the same venue.
Mojacar’s own town band will also have a chance to show off their skills in a concert at the Plaza del Parterre, on Wednesday July 31 at 9pm.
This year’s summer programme features plenty to keep the youngest members of the family fully entertained. Youngsters will have an opportunity to meet much-loved TV and film stars at the Plaza Nueva on the evenings of Monday July 15 and 22, with the added attraction of inflatables and fun games. The following Monday, July 29, children’s favourites like Demolition Ball, bouncy castles and fun road safety circuits will be set up from 7pm at the same spot.
Further activities aimed at kids include the musical ‘Villanos’ on Thursday July 18 and the ‘Indalo’ puppet show on Saturday July 20, both starting at the Plaza Nueva at 9.30 pm.
The movie Hotel Transilvania3 will be screened at 10pm on Sunday July 21 at the Plaza del Fronton. The ‘Unicorns’ parade at 9.30pm on Tuesday July 23 will start from the same place.
Magic will be in the air with a show by Cobra Magician on Sunday July 28 in the Plaza Nueva at 10pm.
Another event for all ages is the ‘Circo en la Cuerda Floja’, featuring a show of amazing circus trapeze skills. It will be staged in the Plaza del Fronton on Tuesday July 30 at 10pm.
One of the events likely to attract the biggest crowds to Mojacar this summer is The Night of the Candles on July 25. On this magical night, the light from thousands of candles will illuminate the old town, with telescopes set up to view the stars and live music in the squares to make the evening extra special.
