Mijas-based Check-in Scan app nominated for award
CHECK-IN SCAN, an innovative mobile app which saves vacation rental hosts time and aggravation when registering holiday guests, is making waves.
The Mijas-based enterprise which created the app has been invited to compete in the prestigious VRTECH 2019 awards to find the best technology start-up for the vacation rental industry.
The competition winner can expect industry-wide recognition, the possibility of investments and an undisclosed prize.
Just one year after launching, Check-in Scan is processing one holiday guest ID every 20 seconds, saving clients hours in complying with Spanish holiday rentals legal requirements. Over 8,000 properties throughout Spain are using the Check-in Scan system, including hotels, hostals and campsites, as well as holiday rentals. The app also collaborates with other industry players, including Booking.com.
Recent regulatory changes require holiday owners and rental companies to register their guests with local authorities/police within 24 hours of arrival.
The measure involves collecting the identity documents of all guests staying in accommodation. Guests have to sign a “Parte de Viajeros” arrival form, which must be kept on file for three years in case of police inspection. The holiday owner or rental company must also enter the guest identity details into the police websites to log their arrival.
The Check-in Scan app helps make this process easy: just ‘Scan, Sign & Send’ from a mobile. Download the app, create a free account and add a property. Open the app and start a check-in by scanning the guest passport or ID card with the mobile’s camera and collect their signature as they can sign on screen. Click the “Finish Check-in” button and the app magically takes care of the rest, sending all details to the police and creating the paperwork trail required by law.
