RECOGNITION: Vera’s beaches have qualified for various distinctions for quality this summer. CREDIT: Vera Council
HIGH season has got off to a good start in Vera Playa, the local council reported. Figures from the tourist office show holiday accommodation occupation for the first part of July is at around 80 per cent. On Friday Tourism councillor Catalina Soriana, Beach Maintenance councillor Pedro Salas, and councillor with responsibility for Public Safety Alfonso Garcia did the honours of officially raising the various flags for quality the municipality’s beaches have qualified for this summer. The Spanish Tourism Quality ‘Q’ recognition is flying above the sand on Las Marinas-Bolaga, a recognition the beach has boasted since 2006. Ecoplayas flags are flying in Puerto Rey and on the El Playazo beach. Four of Vera’s beaches have the Secretary of State for Tourism SICTID quality stamp this year: Las Marinas-Bolaga, El Playazo, Cala Marques and Puerto Rey. Services for beachgoers on the Vera coast include facilities for people with reduced mobility like amphibious chairs and walkways down to the sea edge. There are also areas for sport and open-air games.
