National Police carries out cyber-attack training

The National Police force is among a group of official bodies that are taking part in training specifically targeted at preventing and treating cyber-attacks.

Members of the National Institute of Cybersecurity (Incibe), students from the Autonomous University of Madrid (UAM) and 50 members of the police force have taken part in the training.

The candidates were set a simulator that mimicked the 2017 WannaCry attack which left computers and systems around the world crippled with ramsonware.

The course comprised of two sections, the first to disinfect computers already affected by the virus and the second was to take the role of the attacker, identifying weak points in companies systems.
