British woman dies cooling off in Orihuela pool

A BRITISH woman had died while cooling off from the suffocating heat in a swimming pool in Orihuela, according to Spanish press.

The 36-year old reportedly suffered convulsions after taking a dip in a pool in a complex in the Entrenaranjos area at midday on Friday.

An emergency medical team fought to save her life by practising CPR for some 45 minutes, but tragically there was no response, press said. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Spanish media also reported the woman possibly had a history of epilepsy.

An autopsy is due to be carried out to determine the cause of death.
