ILLEGAL CARGO: Guardia moved in as suspected drug traffickers were unloading more than 400 kilos of hash onto an Adra beach. CREDIT: Almeria Guardia Civil
GUARDIA Civil intercepted a boat carrying more than 400 kilos of hashish on board just off the Adra coast. Four different units and a maritime service patrol took part in the operation dubbed ‘Chelja’, launched after the Almeria communications centre reported its exterior surveillance system had picked up on a suspicious small craft approaching Adra’s beaches. When the boat came ashore in the area known as Boca del Rio-La Conda and a number of individuals began unloading the illegal cargo, a Guardia patrol moved in. The suspected criminals fled, but officers caught up with one man, finding him crouched down in undergrowth next to a pile of eight hash bundles. The suspect identified as K.C. faces drug trafficking charges. The maritime service recovered a further three bundles of hash found floating in the sea.
