FOUR arrests and the discovery of more than 630 cannabis plants, modified and simulated firearms and 20 illegal connections to the power supply was the result of a Guardia Civil raid on five properties in La Alqueria in Adra.
Guardia launched Operation Guillaume to investigate the possible existence of an illegal plantation in the area in response to numerous complaints from local residents about a strong smell of marijuana and frequent power cuts. There was also a fire in an electricity transformer last month.
Discreet surveillance of the zone led to the identification of the most likely locations for indoor marijuana plantations. Officers found cannabis plants growing in four of the five properties inspected and clear signs plants had recently been collected from the fifth.
