Andalucia Firefighters extinguish blaze on Costa del Sol

THE Andalucian wild fire agency has declared a fire which broke out between Mijas, Fuengirola and Benalmadena yesterday (Thursday) extinguished.

Plan INFOCA declared the fire extinguished this morning.The blaze broke out yesterday afternoon in El Higueron between Mijas and Fuengirola and near Benalmadena.

A total of 83 firefighters and several land and air vehicles were dispatched to tackle the blaze, according to Plan INFOCA. The agency said the fire was under control at around 9pm yesterday evening.

“There is no better news to start the morning with than the news that the fire in Benalmadena is extinguished,” the wild fire agency said.

Several pictures shared on social media yesterday showed flames spreading across hills near to the A7 motorway shortly after the fire broke out.

Plumes of smoke were also seen climbing into the air near to homes and hotels in the area.

Pictures shared by Plan INFOCA today showed the side of the hill scorched from the flames.
