OFFICIALS, police officers and locals Xabia held a minute’s silence on Tuesday in memory of the latest alleged victim of gender violence in Spain and the 1,000th since records began.
Local council officials and residents gathered outside Xabia Town Hall for the service at 12pm. It was attended by government representative in Alicante Province Araceli Poblador.
The service was held in memory of 29-year-old Beatriz Arroyo, who died in the Valencian town of Alboraya. She is the 1,000 victim of gender violence since records began in 2003.
Her suspected killer took his own life after her death. Investigations into the case continue.
