A SERIES of burglaries from homes in Vera Playa has led to the arrest of a 30-year old suspect.

Guardia Civil believe H.E.M. was responsible from breaking into at least five properties, mainly in the naturist area.

According to the Guardia the thief checked out the area in advance to see what security measures properties had in place and to pick which ones to hit. He would then force his way through iron grills, windows and doors, using such force that he could be placed at the scene of a number of break-ins due to the traces of blood he left behind.

The thief concentrated on stealing high-end items like mobile phones, TVs, tablets, laptops and cameras, as well as jewellery and cash. He stashed his booty in sports bags or trolley suitcases, immediately passing on the stolen items to third parties.

The robberies were carried out at all hours of the day or night, the targets holiday homes as well as properties lived in year-round. On one occasion the homeowners surprised the thief inside their house.

The court in Vera has ruled the suspect should be held in custody.
