A CAR hit two Dutch women on Sunday morning, killing one, near a village in Castilla y Leon.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed that the 63-year-old woman from Utrecht died in hospital. Her 67-year-old friend is still in critical condition.
The accident happened on the hiking route to the pilgrimage town of Santiago de Compostela.
It was said that the two women were walking through the town of León where they were hit by car at a tunnel near Fresno del Camino.
Further investigation is taking place with Spanish police. According to the Spanish media, the women were walking on the pavement. The driver of the car is a 19-year-old who just received their driver’s licence a few months ago.
According to local reports, the driver was not under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
