Body of missing Scot found in Ibiza

THE body of a Scottish man who went missing during a friend’s birthday party in Ibiza has been found floating in the sea.

Johny Doherty, 28, vanished from the gathering in a rented villa sometime between 6am and 10am on Monday morning.

Friends assumed he had gone to bed, but when concerned relatives phoned to see if they knew where he was, they discovered his bed had not been slept in.

His father flew to the island to help look for him and emergency services launched an extensive land, sea and air search for him.

Mr Doherty’s body was eventually spotted by a member of the public, with Guardia Civil divers recovering him from the sea off Cap Martinet yesterday (June 6).

At the moment the exact cause of Mr Doherty’s death is unknown, although police have ruled out the possibility of anyone else being involved.

They believe he probably fell from a cliff in the area. A post mortem examination is being carried out. Mr Doherty grew up in Rutherglen in South Lanarkshire and lived in Glasgow.
