Spain’s most popular names revealed

ANTONIO and Maria Carmen still top Spain’s list of common popular names, according to latest figures.

The National Institute of Statistics revealed the news after analysing its 2017 and 2018 data.

For 2017, Lucas and Luca were the most popular names for babies, while the name Antonio was still the most common male name, with a total of 678,425 Antonios registered as living in Spain.

This was followed by Jose at 594,144, Manuel at 590,965, Francisco at 498,934, and David at 365,196.

For women, Maria Carmen was the most common name, at 656,276, followed by Maria at 291,563, Carmen at 276,68, Josefa at 273,319, and Ana Maria at 266,967.

The average age of those named Antonio is 55.9-years-old, while for Maria Carmens the average age is 57-years-old.

For young men aged an average of 27-years-old, the most popular name is Daniel, while for women aged 28.4-years-old the name is Laura.
