A DEFENDANT accused of stabbing his friend to death an Alicante City bar has admitted to killing him because of a dispute over his dog.
The court heard the 23-year-old defendant stabbed the alleged victim nine times before slitting his throat at a bar in the Villafranqueza area of the city in February 2017.
The defendant said during cross-examination from prosecutors he stabbed the man because he had fed a stone to his dog a week before, killing the animal.
The defendant fled the bar after the stabbing and threw his knife in a field, the court heard. Prosecutors have asked for him to be jailed for 23 years if found guilty as the trial continues.
