A SPANISH labour union has called a country-wide strike at nursery schools on May 21.
The CCOO argues teachers are not being paid an adequate salary for their levels of responsibility and training.
The union said: “We demand working conditions that suit the commendable work that thousands of children in pre-school education have been receiving in return for salaries that do not reach €900 gross a month.”
It added: “Going forward, the proposed deal would flagrantly violate the State Collective Bargaining Agreement, which states that no agreement will be below €1,000 in 2020.”
