MANY people ask me if it is a waste of time to actively try to lose weight as they get older, even the over 40’s!

THE answer of course, is no!

As we age there are many reasons and excuses not to eat healthily or exercise

Confidence is a big one. Going to the gym can seem a frightening prospect for many, the thought of young Lycra clad beauties and wall to wall mirrors.

Health issues – whether it’s the onset of menopause, intolerances which develop as we age, thyroid issues and more, medication can also prove to be a tricky thing to work alongside. The ironic thing is, many health issues can be improved using diet alone and therefor eliminating the need for medication

Motivation. whether you still work or are semi retired, retired and the like, many people don’t have the urge to do anything about it. Retirement is fantastic but endless days of lounging on the Costa and afternoons In the pub don’t equal a trim waistline!

Peers – there is always a stigma associated to losing weight, like you’re involved in a cult. People will give you their opinion whether you want to hear it or not.

The bottom line is, a better diet equals more energy, better mental well being and the desire to achieve more. It is a goal you can hit and feel good about, and more importantly feel great in your own skin. Whatever your age.
