A SEVENTEEN-YEAR-OLD boy who was brutally beaten by a gang following an argument about tobacco at a disco in Spain has died in hospital.
According to sources the victim refused to give cigarettes to the attackers who beat and kicked him. Paramedics performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation manoeuvres on him and he was rushed to hospital in a serious condition.
The attack allegedly happened in the city of San Sebastian in the early hours of Friday but the young man lost his fight for life on Sunday at the Donostia Hospital.
Two friends of the victim and his brother were also injured when they tried to intervene in the dispute.
Police have arrested seven people, all males between 18 and 25-years-old. Three are Romanians, two North Africans and two Spaniards.
The detained are due to appear in court today (Monday).
