BABY RELEASED: ‘Battered’ child leaves hospital after two months in Spain

A BABY has been released from a hospital in Tarragona two months after being admitted with serious head injuries.

The child, who was being treated at the Joan XXIII hospital, had allegedly been abused by its 22-year-old parents, who remain in prison.

The mother, MM, and father, FL, have since been charged with assault and abuse after the child sustained head injuries and bone fractures. After initial medical examinations suggested the child could have been the victim of abuse, doctors notified police and social services, leading the Mossos d’Esquadra to arrest the couple the following day.

Several days later, a judge ordered the pair to be jailed pending trial.
