LOCAL POLICE were called out in Marbella after a taxi driver stopped a teenage girl believed to have escaped from Marbella’s Costa del Sol Hospital from committing suicide.
Taxi driver Miguel Angel told Spanish media he and other were waiting for customers in the Los Monteros area when they heard the sound of a girl screaming.
The girl, aged about 16 or 17 according to the driver, was dressed in hospital robes and sat on the edge of a bridge crying.
“I spoke to her and told her not to throw herself away and to calm down,” Angel said.
The other driver had called the police and officers arrived as Angel was consoling the girl. Her family was also informed and the teenager returned to the hospital.
The family told police the girl had been a victim of bullying in her school. Police have not confirmed the claim and inquiries into the incident remain open.
