AIR STRIKES SPAIN: Full details of TODAY’S and TOMORROW’S flight cancellations

A TOTAL of 148 flights, affecting around 10,000 passengers, have been cancelled during the first three days of six planned days of strike action by pilots in Spain.

The strike by SEPLA (Spanish Union of Airline Pilots) members has forced Air Nostrum, a franchisee of Iberia, to cancel flights on April 15, 16 and 17 (see full list below).

The union has also called another three days of action on April 22, 23 and 24 and the airline is expected to announce the flights affected on those dates soon if negotiations with the unions fail.

Air Nostrum has announced it will operate 76.4 per cent of the services decreed by the General Directorate of Civil Aviation for the first wave of action.

And 100 per cent of flights with an origin or destination in the Balearic Islands, Canary Islands and Melilla will operate normally.

The airline says that customers on affected flights who have purchased their tickets through iberia.com will receive a message from Iberia. If you have purchased the tickets through a travel agency they will be your contact. If you do not receive any notification you can contact Serviberia on 901 111 500 (in Spain).

Air Nostrum say they “maintain the negotiating attitude” and is “doing everything possible to minimize the disruption that this strike is causing to the passengers.”

The SEPLA union said: “We started the first of six days of strikes #paros #pilotos @AirNostrumLAM. An unwanted but necessary measure to guarantee our future. We are still willing to come to an agreement.”

Air Nostrum operates 91 domestic and international routes to 51 destinations and also charter flights. Its main base is Valencia Airport, with hubs at Barcelona Airport and Madrid-Barajas Airport.
