Palma bus drivers out of service

STRIKES: Action over recruitment policy. CREDIT: EMT Palma Facebook

A TWO hour strike by EMT bus drivers yesterday (Monday) received 100 per cent support, leaving 112 buses in Palma out of action between 8am and 10am.

Minimum service requirements meant that 44 were operational. The town hall said 88 services were affected and that 236 workers had joined the stoppage. A further two-hour stoppage was organised from 6pm and further action is planned for tomorrow (Wednesday) and Friday.

A 24-hour strike is on the cards for Monday.

The industrial action centres around EMT works committee grievances in respect of recruitment policy.
