Paedophile teacher – who filmed young girls – escapes 29-year prison sentence in Spain

A PERVERT school teacher who was arrested in Malaga province has escaped a 29-year jail term that was originally demanded by the prosecutor and he may now not even face another day in prison.

The teacher was arrested in Antequera in 2014 for possession of paedophile material and the abuse of girls that he recorded in videos.

His crimes came to light when he visited the home of a pupil and uploaded a folder from a pen drive to the student’s computer that contained photographs and videos of naked girls. When the teacher left, the boy’s mother found him with “a very red, dazed and frightened face” it was said. The woman saw, among the photographs, naked pictures of a 15-year-old daughter of a friend.

Armed with the information the two women reported the teacher to the police in Antequera and he was subsequently arrested.

When the police searched the teacher’s home officers found explicit paedophile videos that had been downloaded from social networks.

The prosecutor originally asked for a 29-year sentence that was eventually reduced to six years but the court was asked to further recognise the repentance shown by the accused, his confession and his conduct since. The court was told he already been jailed for 14-months and has stopped working with children and has voluntarily submitted to treatment.

In a plea, still to be ratified by the court, the defence team asked for the six-year sentence to be suspended and replaced with a ten-year probation period.
