SPAIN is the country which receives the most spam calls per month, according to new figures.
A new study by caller identity company Hiya, showed Spanish phone-users receive an average of around nine spam calls per month; a rate of 24 per cent.
Globally, more than 85,000 million spam calls were received in 2018, a 325 per cent increase on the year before. Spain received the highest percentage, followed by the United Kingdom at seven calls a month and 22 per cent, and Italy at six calls and 21 per cent.
Many nuisance calls were automated by telecommunications companies, however some were more serious, involving banking scams, false kidnappings, or special rates number scams.
