WELL OFF!: Spain’s richest areas – by personal income tax paid

SPAIN’S tax agency has published figures showing which areas paid the most personal income tax in 2016.

The statistics show residents in Madrid, Barcelona and Pozuelo de Alarcon-  a suburb of Madrid – paid the most tax.

Disposable income varied dramatically across the country, with residents in Madrid city having an average of €29,400, compared to the national average of €25,086, and €16,333 in Extremadura.

In the affluent northern Madrid urbanisation of La Moraleja, residents had an average disposable income of €113,000. This is followed by the Barcelona suburb of Vallvidrera-Tibidabo i Les Planes, where average income reaches €65,700.

  1. What about the places where they DON’T pay tax ! ! Where even professionals are paid cash-in-hand, or as they say ‘metallico’.
    No invoice, no IVA (which in Spain seems to be optional anyway), and no audit trail.
