Costa del Sol initiative praised as ‘great idea’ – but do you know what it is?

A PHOTO snapped in Malaga on Spain’s Costa del Sol has thrilled pet owners on social media.

The pic that has gone viral shows a new installation in the bustling port city popular with cruise ships and holidaymakers.

It’s had people scratching their heads but it is simply a clever drinking water fountain for humans and their parched pooches.

The smart, striking design features a receptacle at the foot of the column that catches the water and allows canines and felines to also hygienically drink from the fountains – a real boon for pet owners during the summer heat.

Now there are calls for more town halls across Spain to put the pet-friendly drinking fountains in their public spaces.
