Almeria running for vote on most popular Spanish fiestas

ELEVEN fiestas in Almeria province are in the running for a public vote on the most popular in the country.

The Las 7 Mejores website is looking for what it underlines are “Spain’s most attractive fiestas, not the most high-profile.”

The public can cast their vote for one of 820 fiestas throughout the country, with the option of adding photos, comments and videos of their favourite. The Almeria 11 are: San Sebastian and San Ildefonso in Olula del Rio; the Aben Humeya Morisco Games in Purchena; the Roquetas de Mar Moragas; Moors and Christians in Carboneras; the Almería city fair; Adra’s San Marcos, fiesta; Lubrin’s bread fiesta; the Santo Cristo de la Luz in Dalias; the fiestas in honour of Santa Ana and the Virgen del Carmen in Roquetas; the fiestas in honour of the Virgen de las Angustias in Vera; and the Saliente pilgrimage in Albox.

“Not all fiestas are on television, however they have thousands of followers which make them great”, the website says.

“We want to find the one which gives out the most colour, happiness, life and happiness.”
