A BEACH in Spain has been awarded the top spot in the TripAdvisor 2019 Traveler’s Choice awards for the best beach in Europe.
La Concha beach in San Sebastian headed the list above stiff competition from sandy shores Italy, Portugal and Greece.
One reviewer, TravelFan, gushed: “Magnificent! This is a gorgeous stretch of beach with the background of mountains and a lovely promenade beside it! We enjoyed looking down on the sand art from the promenade. An incredible view of the beach is from the top of the funicular on Monte Igueldo. This was the prettiest sight of our entire trip to Northern Spain.”
Another Bernadine, from the UK added: “Stunning! We’ve just returned from a 2 night break in San Sebastián and Concha beach was one of our highlights! This beach is stunning, extremely clean, toilets available at different points and not an over flowing bin in sight! It’s not to be missed.
A Cypriot, Arkejik, confessed: “I’m used to beautiful beaches but seeing this amazing beach and the ocean (even in winter season) is an unforgettable experience. Take your shoes off and walk along. ✌️”
Also highly placed was in fourth spot was Playa de Ses Illetes on Formentera in the Balearic Islands.
The highest placed beach in the UK was Bournemouth Beach that was in sixth spot.
Spain’s Playa de Muro and Playa de Cofete also took tenth and eleven places in the Top 25 list.
