ONE week after a helicopter crashed into the Iznajar reservoir, members of the Underwater Activities Group of the Guardia Civil have located the body of the pilot and aircraft that plunged 45 metres into the water after presumably hitting high-voltage cables.
According to the Benemerita, also known as the Guardia Civil, recovery attempts could take ‘several hours’.
The rescue team have been using, as of Sunday, a ‘hyperbaric chamber’ that helps prevent diver accidents as a result of extreme underwater work conditions and also reduces recovery periods.
The air accident occurred last Tuesday 19, after several emergency calls were received after witnesses saw a helicopter crash into the reservoir’s water just before 11:30am.
The Cordoba Government sub-delegate, Rafaela Venezuela, has expressed condolences and support to the victim’s family that have received assistance from Group of Psychological Intervention in Emergencies and Disasters (Giped).
