GREEN GRANT: The funding has been given by the provincial government in Alicante.
ALTEA has been given more than 50,000 euro in grants to help protect the green areas of the municipality. The funding has been given by the provincial government in Alicante, and composes of 40,000 euro towards protecting and improving the environmentally rich areas, and just under 13,000 euro to help fire prevention and extinction. The bulk of the funding is set to go towards forestry work in Pinus halepensis, and Quercus rotundifolia reserve, removing dead trees and roots, and replanting the weakened areas in order to eliminate erosion and improve nesting by installing boxes for the animals to use. As for fire prevention, some 1.24 hectares of land will be protected by the creation of perimeter firewalls, consisting of the removal of the shrubbery and trees that can cause difficulties in extinction, and cause fires to spread faster, thus increasing the danger of the extinction of a fire. The fire prevention plan will also create a barrier with the roads through the municipality, and provide an evacuation route to facilitate the easy escape people in the event of a serious incident.
