FRIENDS of a British expatriate woman living on the Costa del Sol have launched a fundraising appeal for her following the death of her 39-year-old fiancé.

Holly Rubiano, 28, living in Riviera del Sol, told Euro Weekly News she and close friends of Sharon McGrain launched the drive after the death of Matt Bennett on Saturday.

They are aiming to raise as much money as they can to cover funeral costs and other expenses, with the target on their Go Fund Me page set at €20,000.

The father of three, who lived with Ms McGrain in Miraflores, is believed to have died from a heart-related issue. Coroners are yet to determine to exact cause of death.

Ms Rubiano said the death had come as a shock to everyone who knew Mr Bennett.

“Matt was a really lovely guy. He was completely devoted to his fiancé and children.

“Sharon is one of my best friends and she’s in pieces and now she’s on her own. I set up the page to try and get her some money for Matt’s funeral but also to help her now that she doesn’t have his income,” Ms Rubiano said.

“The funeral alone is going to cost €4,000. Any money that anyone can donate, no matter how little or how much, is greatly appreciated,” Ms Rubiano added.

The Go Fund Me page has so far raised more than €930 of its target. If you wish to donate you can do so here.

Mr Bennett leaves behind Ms McGrain and sons Josh, 18, Charlie, 3 and daughter Holly, 2.
