SALOBRENA town hall has reportedly asked the Junta de Andalucia to intervene over the large numbers of processionary caterpillars around the town.
The council said the mild weather is allowing nests to flourish, particularly in the Camino del Canal between the Monte de los Almendros urbanisation and near the Rambla de Molvizar.
In the meantime, the council team said it has hired a specialist firm to treat 45 pine trees between La Caltea and Monte Almendros.
