Murder of young ‘foreign’ mum shocks mountain communities

POLICE in Spain were called after a 29-year-old woman was found dead in a house on the outskirts of Planes.

Her throat had been cut and sources close to the case said that Policia Judicial officers from the Guardia Civil’s criminal investigation unit “were not ruling out any theories.”

Although the house in Partida la Ceba is located inside the Planes boundary it is five kilometres away from the town but only 100 metres away from the centre of neighbouring Benimarfull.

The killing was particularly shocking for the small inland communities – Planes has a population of 713 and Benimarfull 427 – because so little was apparently known about the victim, who had a baby three months ago.

“Nobody in the town knew the woman, who had been living here with her partner for a year,” Planes mayor, Javier Sendra told the Spanish media.

Benimarfull’s mayor also confirmed that the family had practically no contact with locals.

The dead woman, who was not Spanish, was registered on the Barcelona padron.

“Her partner was registered here but nobody knows anything about them,” said Sendra, who added that the villas scattered around the Partido La Ceba area were habitually used only during the holiday season.
