FIREMEN in Almuñecar were forced to brave extreme weather conditions at around 6am on Friday morning after high winds brought down a tree on the A-4050 in Torrecuevas. The cypress tree lay across Carretera de la Cabra – which connects the town with Granada – leaving the major road impassable. After receiving the news, firefighters, cutting up the tree and removing it, and allowing traffic to pass again. Spain’s meteorological office, AEMET, put out an orange weather warning for dangerous sea conditions on the Costa del Sol and Costa Tropical on Friday, as well as yellow alerts for high winds and rain. Weather experts also announced a yellow warning on Saturday for extreme sea conditions in the Axarquia and Costa Tropical areas.
