SPANISH newspaper El Mundo has published its annual rich list, which showed the world’s richest retailer still retains Spain’s number one spot.
Amancio Ortega, the owner and founder of the Inditex group which includes Zara, remains Spain’s richest man with a net worth of €50,400 million.
The eighty-two-year-old remained a long way ahead of the competition, with rich list’s number two spot going to Rafael Del Pino and his family – owners of construction giant Ferrovial – whose net worth is €7,650 million.
In third place is Juan Roig Alfonso and his family, owners of Mercadona Distribution, who have a combined worth of €7,050 million.
Also in the top 10 was the owner of Coca Cola European Parnters, Sol Daurella Comadran and family, at €6,300 million, as well Amancio Ortega’s eldest daughter and Inditex part-owner, Sandra, at €5,300 million.
