Spain faces railway infringement notice after allegedly failing to meet safety requirements

THE European Commission issued a formal notice on January 24 as Spain is believed to have failed to meet the requirements of EU railway safety legislation.

The Spanish railway system is under investigation after the EC identified alleged inadequacies in relation to methods used when investigating accidents and incidents.

The issues raised by the EC must be addressed within the next two months or legal action could be taken.
