TOURIST favourite Spain has been featured in a top 10 list of the most dangerous countries to drive in the European Union, compiled by Canvas Holiday.
With each country ranked by the number of traffic accidents per 10,000 drivers last year, the study found Spain ranking in ninth place just above the UK.
According to the report, Austria was ranked in first place with the highest accident rate in the EU.
In second and third place, came Germany and Belgium, with 37.2 and 35.1 accidents per 10,000 motorists.
The following top ranked countries were Slovenia (31.4), Portugal (31.4), Malta (30.2), Italy (29.1) and Croatia (25.5).
Spain and the UK, recorded 21.9 and 21.6 accidents per 10,000 drivers respectively.
Meanwhile, Denmark was ranked as the ‘safest’ country to drive in with only five incidents.
