ONE of the victims from the A-332 Almeria car crash on Sunday 20 has woken from a coma to find her husband had died in the accident.
The Scottish couple, who were travelling with another passenger, were involved in an accident where their hired car collided with a lorry on the A-332 road in Cuevas de Almanzora, Almeria resulting in two deaths and one injured victim.
The injured passenger, Christine Revil (68), who was moved to hospital after the crash, has reportedly woken from a coma to be told that her husband Phil, also 68, had died at the same hospital.
Her cousin, Jim Burnside, who allegedly confirmed to British press that Christine had woken from her coma, has said that the situation is ‘horrific’.
Jim has reportedly stated that ‘they just want to get out to Spain to be with Christine’.
The couple, originally from Coatbridge, had reportedly been travelling through France and Spain when the collision took place.
The second passenger, also Scottish, was also killed in the accident.
As reported by the 112 Emergency services, the event occurred at 3pm when several witnesses reported a collision between a car and a lorry that was transporting fruit.
The incident took place at kilometre 16 of the motorway, and Almeria Levante Fire Brigade Consortium, the Guardia Civil Traffic, the Public Health Emergencies Company (EPES) 061, Local Police and the Civil Protection of the location were despatched.
