A CONVICTED murderer is suspected of fatally stabbing the lawyer who defended him 15 years ago, before throwing himself off a bridge in Teruel yesterday morning (Friday).
The deceased, Rebeca Santamalia Cancer, 48, represented Jose Javier Salvador Calvo in 2003, when he was tried for shooting his 29 year-old wife, PP candidate for mayor of Puebla de Hijar, Patricia Maurel Conte.
Calvo, 50, was given 18 years and ordered to pay €120,000 to each of his three children, who were minors at the time.
He has been on probation since 2017, and is now believed to have killed Cancer, whose body was discovered at his home in the Argonese capital during the early hours of this morning.
Her husband had reported her missing Thursday afternoon.
According to Spanish press reports, the delegate of the Government in Zaragoza, Carmen Sanchez, has confirmed that the lawyer and Calvo were in a relationship.
