WANTED: 16-year-old escapes correctional facility through toilet in his cell in Spain

A 16-year-old young man, serving a two-year sentence for robbery and violence, has escaped from the correctional centre in Punta Blanca, Ceuta, via the toilet in his room.

The young man, of Moroccan nationality, managed to get outside of the premises by making a hole in the toilet and sink to finally escape through the sewers.

According to police sources, the 16-year-old exited the facility on his own, whilst serving a two-year sentence in La Esperanza centre.

He had only served seven months of his sentence before escaping to an unknown location last Friday 11.

Spanish police have underlined the fact that the fugitive is a troublesome individual since it was the third time that he had been deprived of his freedom.

After managing to escape through the sewers, the route took the young man to a garden area in centre of Punta Blanca, where he then jumped over a wall.

Staff from the correctional facility did not realise that he had escaped until the following morning.

The Punta Blanca centre is baffled on how the young man managed to escape and believes that he had been preparing his getaway for a long time.
