CANTORIA will be the setting for a fundraising mountain run on Sunday January 20 to help sufferers of motor neuron disease and their families.
All the money raised from the 1st Trial de la Polvera (Gunpowder Trial) will go to the Andalucian Motor Neuron Disease Association to help fund the organisation’s programmes and patient care.
“The aim of this event is to promote health, community collaboration and solidarity with the families affected by MND in Andalucia, a serious neurodegenerative disease with can affect anyone and at any age”, the association said.
Starting at 10am, competitors can run either 14 or 24-kilometre routes through the Almanzora Valley.
The association said competitors will run on roads, tracks and paths, the routes taking them through landscapes “with spectacular views full of the light of the Mediterranean and with a full range of greens and browns.”
There will be trophies for the first three competitors across the finishing line in Cantoria’s Plaza de la Constitucion and for the biggest team. Hams and other prizes will also be given out, and there will be hot soup, ‘migas’ with chorizo sausage, sweets and drinks at the end of the trial.
