A SECURITY guard at the Intermodal Train Station in Palma had a lucky escape after a kitchen knife-wielding man allegedly tried to stab him on Saturday afternoon.
According to local police, who have arrested the suspect, the individual is known to sit and drink near the station entrance, and insult passers-by.
On the latest occasion, the Spanish man, in his mid-40s, was seen urinating in public and hurling abuse at people who confronted him about his actions. The head of private security immediately asked him to leave, and accompanied him outside.
But minutes later, the suspect came back with a knife and ‘pounced on the guard’, threatening him. Other guards managed to restrain the offender and snatch the knife from him. Police officers arrived and an arrest was made.
