TAXI drivers and official transport agencies are exposing a ‘mafia’ of illegal drivers that pick up passengers at Malaga Airport without any legal authorisation.

According the airport taxi drivers, these individuals wait at the Malaga-Costa del Sol Airport’s Terminal 3 arrivals gate to pick up passengers.

The drivers allegedly carry out transit services without any legal license or authorisation.

As stated by official transport services, ‘the illegal drivers turn up at any time and stay at the airport for however long they want’.

‘They either work alone or in a group’, the taxi drivers claim.

Passengers could find themselves in serious trouble and could be at risk when using these ‘illegal services’, as the drivers do not offer any type of guarantee nor insurance to cover customers.

The taxi group has stated that ‘anyone can carry out these illegal practices such as foreigners, elderly people and minors.’

The taxi drivers claim that these illegal services are not being ‘controlled’ nor confronted due to lack of surveillance and security.

  1. What the taxi mafia means is, they don’t want relatives turning up to meet family members and therefore ” depriving ” them of passengers.
No doubt there are some rogue drivers hanging around the airport ( I’ve seen offers in Russian stuck on street lighting posts ) but lay off the folks collecting family members!
